While I can be creative, I couldn’t have made this shit up if I had tried!
It’s like having two dates for prom.
Go ahead, say something about first-world problems. Seriously, I did not know what I’m about to tell you when I posted about Pearl Jam a few days ago…. I’ve been too busy with work, this blog and after work engagements (yes, that’s what I’ll call them), to even think about concert schedules for 3 months away!
Pre-Dawn may be too early for this self-described Night Owl
It turns out that maybe my mind is not so clear early in the pre-dawn hours of the morn. I can scribe a 999 word post about being excited to see Maynard James Keenan perform, giving a cursory review of his work in all 3 projects and my favorite songs in each iteration of his Godliness. Yet, I did not read the tour dates correctly, apparently.
The Fates be Damned (well, maybe. I’m at least shaking my fist.)
It turns out, in some cruel twist of fate that BOTH bands are playing in Virginia on the same fucking night. Initially, this awareness brought me great dismay, my heart sank when I was confirming the dates to correlate with my time-off requests. I literally shed a few tears when I realized my early morning err. Thank you, M for the talkin’ to for the next set of options…
So, what does a fan of two bands do?
To serve both masters is not an option, at least not on the same night… I could chose one, but not both…in this case, at least for 4/18.
“Spiral out, keep going” a possible solution?
In looking at the tour dates before and after their sameday shows in Virginia, I see that they are BOTH performing next in Raleigh, NC. This time, different nights and consecutively! Do I see one in VA and then one in NC? OR, do I see one in VA and then BOTH in NC (heck, I’m driving away from home & would need an overnight at my age, may as well make it a mini-vacation). Or just both in NC? Or just …. One? Neither is not an option for me.
Oh, the options that lay before me!
Now, this has truly become a first world problem! I need to decide somewhat soon what I want to do to minimize the number of people who need to have their appointments with me changed at work…
What would you do?
I have seen Pearl Jam, many years ago, but have never seen MJK in any of his iterations perform live in the flesh.
Feel free to share your thoughts on my terrible, horrible quandary (yes, I’m exaggerating here, sometimes it’s fun).
Seriously?!
I’m still reeling, how can this be?! I joked about the internal dilemma and now, I’m livin’ it.
Ok, so jokingly, it would be great to be a paid writer and PT, both part-time. Oh, and to be discovered by, loved by and adored by my twin flame…Wouldn’t that all just be so ironic? And lovely!

I say see both in Raleigh and plan to have lunch with me while you are visiting. 😉

It’s been a long time since I’ve been there but visiting a new friend would give me a wonderful excuse to do so!!
