The removal of debris.

In wound healing, dead tissue blocks healing.

Medically, it must be removed.

The same is true for mental, spiritual and emotional healing.

Just as the song, Orestes indicates, we need to

“Cut away, clear away….”

To become ourselves in our fullest,

We also need to clear away the “umbilical residue”

While Keenan indicates his desire to kill his parents, there is a metaphorical truth here.

there is a need to allow the parts of us that we carried forward from our parents to die, so that we may thrive.

We see God as a composite of our parents. Wounded, we treat ourselves the ways our parents did.

To see the truth of love, we need to allow the non-love to die.
