gifts with strings attached

a gift is not a gift when it has strings attached.

from Google: gift <ɡift/> noun

a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present.

when we give with the expectation of a return, then we have attached strings to that which we have given and it is therefore not a gift at all!

a present with instructions on how the givers expects the givee to use it; could be considered a form of abuse, manipulation, passive-aggression.

so this day and every day, let’s look at how we give, is it truly a gift or an ultimatum?

  1. I give/do things, just for that momentous smile on people’s faces. They would forget it, I would too, but I love that one single moment. Gets me high…I know it is still not altruistic, but I like it that way 🙂

    Great thought my friend!
