Boundless, Releasing the Albatross

To the ones who stifled my cries,

told me lies

about myself,

to limit me,

to control me,

manipulating

my emotions,

to keep me

in your bed,

or from hurting

your head with

my brilliance.

I say to you,

Stand Down!

~~

This Lady

is

now

bound-

less.

~~

I can see

where my

strength

and power

frightened you.

~~

Trust me,

it has

frightened

me, too.

~~

We were

both weak,

but you saw

my inner strength.

~~

To keep me

at your level,

or to bring me

down, as it were,

you shot at me

until I fell

down,

down,

down.

~~

You could have

easily leveled

up. Rising up,

on a wind,

instead,

you chose

to sink like

a stone.

~~

In our

connection,

I chose to

stay with you,

in the hopes

I could raise

you (and me)

back up.

You became

my Albatross.

~~

Now I see

that if you

want to be

with me,

you’ll need

to soar,

as does the Osprey;

the Phoenix

of the water.

Diving down,

bravely

into the waters

to capture

its next meal,

the bird of air

then rises up,

shakes off her wings

and flies.

~~

Want to see me again?

And not just

my underbelly?

Then rise up,

my friend.

To the top of

the Aeries,

take off

and take

flight.

Soar.

~~

BE

the

you

that

you

are

here

to

be.

Let me,

be the

me,

I am

here to be.

~~

eh, goodbye!

Another poem written over a month ago. I only changed one word to Lady. 😉
Again reinforcing my strong connection to water, the layers are even amazing for me to see.

  6. “Overhead the Albatross, hangs motionless upon the air…” — Pink Floyd, “Echoes” Meddle Lp 1971, one of my favs and your words just made me say, MUST listen to it right now, NOW! Try it out sometime! As always, your words are sublime and soothing to a crazy world outside the door. XO

    1. Interesting! I’m a Floyd fan and somehow this one escapes my memory. I listened to a lot of Floyd with my ex and so it has been hard for me to listen to much anymore. This song escaped those memories.
      My all time fave Floyd song is the turning away. Hmmm!
      I’m adding this now to the post, echoes. It is a reflection, after all…

Yes I can understand the closed door to certain songs or bands when you are no longer with someone for not so pleasant reasons but I find that it’s not the song’s fault, but how you placed it in your memory to a certain emotion or memory. Totally understand that. But glad it sparked note so-to-speak with you : )

      3. Most welcome! The album version is more mellow ambient but the BEST version is form the video Live at Pompeii. It’s the first Floyd song i ever heard and since I was 13 which was…ukfhiluhepovgfrgfertt34t5vhvh years ago now I’ve been a massive fan since! lol

      5. The band decided to do the “Anti-Woodstock” film and perform to an empty Roman Amphitheatre, I mean how Prog is that? Right?! In my blogs there’s a Pink Floyd Tribute called Pink Tones doing their version of the “Pompeii” thing with their rendition of The Atom Heart Mother Suite which they do brilliantly you may wanna check out too!
