Tapping Out on Emotional Overload

Last week a good friend reminded me about the benefits of EFT or “tapping” to help with difficult emotions. Her reminder was perfect timing for me as I was in the throes of coping with a mother load of anger. While I meditate multiple times a times and have other stress-reducing self-care routines, the erupting volcano required more than my “usual” self-care and meditation to manage.

I’ve had used EFT in the past and each time I’ve found it to be incredibly transformative. It is my hope that you will find some use to this technique, as it really helps to gain freedom from overwhelming emotions. EFT can also be used to support both the development and reinforcement of positive thoughts and habits, too.

Please see the YouTube video below, which has both the following written description as well as a walk-through of the EFT technique.

Before beginning, identify and then rate the intensity level of the emotion you are wanting to change on a scale of 0-10. Then think of how you want to phrase what you are feeling. In the video, my feelings were on anxiety and nervousness.

Here is the initial phrase you use while rubbing your chest:

Even though I feel this _________________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Repeat this 3 times before the next step.

Then repeat “this __________” on each area while tapping with your index and middle fingers about 7 times each on the:

crown of your head (1 hand)

Inside eyebrow

Outside eyebrow

Under your eyes

Under your nose

On your chin

Under your collarbones

On the bottom of your ribcage

(Personally, I run through the tapping part 3 -4 times before I reassess.)

Now, assess the emotional level and determine if you need to repeat the tapping sequence from the top.

Feel free to experiment and see what unwanted feelings you can tap away. Sometimes being more specific can help clear more thoroughly.

May this technique help you to find a greater sense of peace within.

Namaste & Happy Tapping

  1. EFT is an amazing technique that allows the body to balance itself. I have used it many times along with Bowen Therapy to restore the body and release holding patterns we get into as we go through those tough parts in life.
And nice to finally meet you Tiffany 😀

    1. Thank you, Mark! I looked into Bowen therapy and didn’t find any locals in the US. Is this similar, I wonder, to Rolfing w myofascial release? I’ll also ask my massage therapist, I’ll see him Sunday.

Also, i saw you’re a massage therapist. I’m also a body worker, from the PT side. 🤯❤️🙏

      1. I’m not sure If it is similar to Rolfing. The lady (Anne Schubert) that taught me here is one of the original instructors, and she goes all around the world teaching it in many places. If you wish to look further into it go to:
        Great Lakes Bowen
and at the bottom of the left menu is Bowen Links. At the bottom of that page is an International directory of practitioners all around the world. Anne gives an explanation of Bowen on the Home page.
My profile is getting a little bigger as I get older 😀 , it now has…Remedial Massage, Bowen Therapy, Reiki, Energy Healing, Spiritual Healing and Counseling. I’ve got a year or two left, I might be able to fit in some more I suppose 😀 ❤
Body work is a good way to help others, whether physically or emotionally, and I noticed your energy gives from that place, you smile with your eyes 😀

      2. Mark! Nice to get to know more about you! That’s an impressive resume!
I’m also a Reiki healer, Oneness Blessing giver and have reached level II in Healing Touch.
I will check out the website. Thank you for the detailed instructions!

      3. Okay, good! Just checking!
Was reading yesterday about the concept of “upper limits.” Our own glass ceiling we are afraid breech; when the self-sabotage kicks in because we don’t feel safe being that happy or successful, etc. ❤️

  2. I seriously think ‘tapping’ has changed my life: no more separation anxiety, no more panic attacks, no more sense of worthless anxiety- when done with a good therapist, it is AMAZING! I’ll have to check out the video, thanks heaps 😀 Peace, G

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience with tapping! So grateful to hear you’ve experienced such a transformation; it’s amazing when I think about how simple the technique is and yet how incredibly powerful it is.
Re the video: I’m still working on the video quality 😐
      ❤️❤️🙏😊

      1. The video was good! So helpful to actually ‘see’ what to do- my therapist just does it with one hand- but yes, profound differences in my emotional states & levels of distress. Thanks again, G 😊
