Meet Your Sacral Chakra: The Right to Create

This is the second in a series about the 7 major chakras of the body. Chakra is Sanskrit for energy wheel, or vortex. The body chakras represent the major energies of the body for the specific area and are generally associated with body functions, organs and glands.

The Right to Create

The sacral chakra is the first feminine chakra and is where our creative energy is housed. The sacral chakra also our emotional center. When our sacral chakras are balanced, we feel creative, sexually and emotionally balanced.  When out of balance, we feel stagnant, sexually “off,” disconnected or stuck in our emotions.

Emotions are motive, or mobile and are to move through us, or to help us to move forward. Whether we recognize it or not, our emotions are the fuel that drive our creativity, sensuality and sexuality. Afterall, procreation (or the act of it) is one of highest forms of creativity.

Ultimately, the sacral chakra represents our potential ability to create. As the first feminine chakra, the sacral chakra can be represented by the maiden who has the potential to create. The first form of the divine feminine.

Activities that promote the sacral chakra:
Creative projects, sex, allowing feelings, sensuality (especially taste), swimming, being in or near water, bathing, creative movements and outward expressions, belly dancing and child-like playing.

Special topic:

Often times we avoid feeling our emotions, tamping them down or ignoring them. Yet, emotions are not the enemy. How we view our emotions or how we use them is where we can create our difficulties.

When utilized properly emotions can assist us in making changes. For instance anger can be a powerful driving force to help protect us in the face of danger via fight or flight. Anger can also help to propel us forward when a major change is in order.

If you can see emotions as potential energy, they can be used as tools for transformation.

Another advantage of the sacral chakra is the use our sexual energy to charge creative projects.

So why is this important? The sacral chakra is our center of creativity. By being aware of our emotions, we can use them and our desires to create the lives we want. Without awareness and acceptance of our emotions, we plant seeds that manifest what we do not desire. By healing our emotions, we create the space to create our desires.

Author’s Background:
In High School, I stumbled upon a book about Chakras written by a medium who once lived in the area where I grew up. Since then, I’ve taken several workshops and read books about chakras. I’ve also expanded my knowledge and work by taking various energy-based courses. At present, I have completed training to be a Reiki Master and Oneness Blessing Giver, as well as Healing Touch to Level II. While I do not see energy like some of my colleagues (clairvoyance), I “know things” and can feel energy, even at a distance (claircognizance).

From Suffering to Transmutation

People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Yesterday, I was basically describing how I felt unsafe being happy in Waiting for the Bottom to Fall Out?  For so long my safety zone has been built on a platform of insecurity that “being okay” for more than a few days feels unsafe. Like many, I have struggled with being present as root chakra issues have been a common theme in my life.

For so long I’ve been an escape artist, avoiding being present and feeling. For so long I’ve preferred to worry, plan, rush, rehash old memories and fantasize. All these cerebral activities have kept me from being present. They have kept me from truly feeling. The worst part? They keep me from healing and moving forward.

Rehashing keeps us stuck in our stories and maintaining the status quo.

Moving Forward with Divine Assistance

While I have had many negative church experiences, my spirituality and faith is strong in what may seem a unique way so this may be a turning point for some who eschew religion altogether as well as those who are traditionalists.

Daily and “in the moment” meditations such as this energy raising & Metta meditation help to keep me grounded. To move forward again, I offer up my pain to The Creator for transmutation. To do so, I must first believe that I am worthy of Divine assistance. Then I must ask for what I need help with (this took a long time to understand).

Next I call on Archangels and Ascended Masters to help me. For “big jobs,” I call on a legion of assistants that can include more than I’ve listed here. These are some of my most called upon spiritual heroes with some reasons I call on them. Though they could help with anything, I prefer to call on help based on specialty:

  • Archangel Azrael helps with transformation and is a good one to call when someone needs help with transitioning or passing on.
  • Archangel Michael assists with cord cutting, protection, speaking your truth and understanding your Divine Life Purpose.
  • Archangel Uriel helps with being grounded and present, and also with Divine Life Purpose.
  • Archangel Gabriel helps with dealing with strong emotions, especially when you fear you’re going to drown.
  • Archangel Raphael opens the heart, heals the body, and helps to overcome addictions.
  • Archangel Chamuel helps with opening the high heart, and sends compassionate love to others at your request.
  • Lord Ganesha removes obstacles.
  • Quan Yin helps when compassion is needed, both for self and others.
  • Mother Mary is helpful when nurturing is needed.
  • Mary Magdalena helps with speaking and dealing with insecurities regarding your Divine Life Purpose. She also offers nurturing, yet with a calm force behind it. She reminds me of a wave, pushing one to the shore.
  • Yeshua ben Yosef or Christ brings light that helps one to see in the darkness.

These are just a few of The Creator’s helpers that are available to assist you, too. As humans have Free Will, Angels and Ascended Masters can only help if you call upon them and they can only assist in the ways you ask of them.

Look at it this way, a plumber isn’t going to fix your roof, much less show up at your house uninvited. You are the contractor of your life. Divine Assistants are then your subcontractors. They can only help out when and where you ask.

So who you gonna call?

May we each find ourselves joyfully on the path that takes us out of our suffering.

Meet Your Root Chakra: The Right to Be

This is the first in a series about the 7 major chakras of the body. Chakra is Sanskrit for energy wheel, or vortex. The body chakras represent the major energies of the body for the specific area and are generally associated with body functions, organs and glands.

The Right to Be

The root chakra is our connection to Mother Earth. When we are connected we feel solid, stable, energetic and protected. When we become disconnected from the physical plane we find ourselves daydreaming, unable to make decisions, stuck, depleted or feeling alone and vulnerable.

Our ability to be present in the here and now allows us to manifest our thoughts into reality. Being rooted or grounded allows us to create and manifest our thoughts into reality and allows us to heal our pasts.

When we experience life ungrounded, we trap emotional energies in our bodies. To clear emotions, we must be present with them. For us to clear the emotions of our pasts, we must feel and be grounded to heal. When we try to escape our emotions, they haunt us. Life will continue to present us with the situations that bring about those emotions until we clear them. The more grounded and present we can be in any given situation, the less likely we will be to continue to carry around those electrical and emotional charges.

Root Chakra Specs:

Sanskrit Name: Muladhara

Color: Ruby Red

Sound & Note: Lam & “C”

Yoga poses: Child’s Pose, Mountain, Warrior II

Essential Oils: Myrrh, Vetiver, Spikenard, Patchouli

Archangel (God’s Messengers): Uriel God’s light. Archangel Uriel holds a scroll, he can help us to uncover our Divine Life Purpose. He can also help us to ground and be present.

Hindu God: Lord Ganesha The Remover of Obstacles, who is strongly associated with the Elephant.

Associated with: Kundalini (vital energy), Family, Ancestors, The Earth, Survival (money, food, fight or flight), Self-confidence, being: protected, accepted.

Foods: beets, carrots, potatoes, meats

Rocks, Minerals and Crystals: Salt, Bloodstone, Garnet, Ruby, Obsidian, Onyx, Clear Quartz

Animals: Land-based mammals. Elephant, Bear, Lion, and Buffalo have strong root chakra energies.

Body organs and glands governed: the genitals, legs, feet and governs the entire endocrine system (all glands)

When out of balance we can feel: vulnerable, unprotected, unloved, abandoned, and as if we are floating/not present in our bodies. Often we will overeat (additional weight can help us feel more grounded) or overspend (seeking physical possessions).

Activities that promote the root chakra: grounding (see below), sex, hiking, running, jumping, massages, eating, self-care, cuddling, and other physical activities that help you feel present in your body.

Special topic: Grounding. To ground, focus your attention on the bottom of your feet (you can do this energetically even if you cannot feel your feet, or even if you do not have them both) while sitting with your feet on the floor or while standing. Imagine roots from your feet traveling deep into the earth, to the core. You can also send roots down from your perineum (the area near your genitals where the front of your body meets the back of your body.)

So why is this important?

Personally, I believe we were all born with “psychic” abilities. As children we were often taught that what we were experiencing was wrong, so we learned to discount our experiences. This dissonance may be part of why we all struggle as our abilities to connect with others and Our Source were blunted or cut off at a young age. So let’s all get back in touch with our roots so we can heal and make this world a better place. The future is ours, only if we can be present now.
