Unfiltered from the heart

the pull is subtle
yet strong
much like gravity
it is so present
yet easily ignored
until the strings
draw circles around
my soul
the draw at times
can be deafening
even in its silence

my heart longing
for something more
less physical
less constriction
: more light
: more strength resilience
: more presence
: more obliteration of the edges that had confined ~ expansion
: a celebration of a life well-lived

it can be easy at the beginning
to feel the support of the journey
to melt into the embrace of the divinity

an inner knowing
a depth of trust
drawing myself back into myself
involution, part of the cycle of evolution

trusting the next step will
reveal itself
when it is time

for now, i am blind
to the staircase
the challenge: to keep my light shining
especially in the darkest of moments
the times when it is needed the most
and also when i am most likely to constrict
out of habit
out of fear
out of training year-after-bloody-year

giving into the draw
may be the easiest part of it all …
