allowing the fullest expression of the experience
of being a child of wonder again
where nearly everything was something
to be explored; bright-eyed barely blinking
as if to do so would block something from being absorbed
rediscovering her eyes, my eyes
through liberating many of the dregs;
the beliefs which were once tightly held
out of fright
yet that truly meant little
like taking that last sip of crunchy coffee
some things best left to themselves, they are
unless its Turkish coffee; more silty & delightful, less crunchy & bitter
surrendering into the newly reacquired gleam
no longer forcing decades of acquiesced limiting beliefs
& instead breaking free at the seams
once again given full permission
she evolved nearly immediately
from a minor role, an extra ~ barely seen
to a leading role on the inner scene
her metamorphosis, for now, complete
the only remaining recognizable trait
her very own bright-eyed view of the world
now to allow this inner gem to shine more & more outwardly
innocently:
if you have an elbow, why not a kneebo?
ask not why one ends with a “w” while the other does not…
from now on the crescent moon will be referred to solely as the “fingernail moon”
if tv shows from “the old days” were in black & white, was the whole world the same way?
giving gratitude to God for french fries ~ in the days before she weighed her value on any scale; oh to return to a fraction of this level of carefree being
bright-eyed, wide-angled lenses imbued

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
