peeling back the layers
that say things that don’t bear repeating
that say things i’d not say to my worst enemy

beneath them is a deep sense of vulnerability
bits that have waited in the darkness
bits that have yearned for the light of day to shine their way

it often feels like an archaeological excavation
of misunderstandings & misinterpretations
of actions & words not meant to be misgiven

it is in seeing them just as they are
& in choosing to no longer feed them
that i am able to be freed of their energy

layer by lovely layer
excavating & removing
the beliefs to let go

in choosing to do so
they let go of their hold
of me, my energy

  1. We do indeed peel away so many layers Tiffany, gradually finding that beauty within 😀❤️🙏

  2. I was thinking of that song when I read your title to this post. Synchronicity?

    1. Oh wow, Rob! Yes, that’s a very interesting synchronicity … It’s interesting bc generally the song is after the poem and sometimes the title is apparent only after poem is drafted. Yet today, everything was very clear … where the title was first and the very next thing I heard was the song … I had added the song before I finished the second stanza … furthering the plot – I’ve even missed a few songs w the posts recently bc nothing came to mind and I was under the gun. Today this song was so immediate and clear. Cheers 🎶
